Sōma & Vine — fine dining

Concept build. Sōma & Vine is a fictional Melbourne restaurant, built to show the Signature package for a business that sells an evening rather than an object. Nothing on the site is for sale and no reservation made is real.

Hospitality inverts the usual brief. There is no product photograph that closes the sale, no specification table and nothing to compare on price — the site has to make someone believe a room is worth booking six weeks out.

What it demonstrates

• Twenty-nine prerendered pages, including a page per dish generated from the menu data, so a search for one plate lands on that plate instead of a PDF.
• Three menus — à la carte, tasting, wine — as separate routes with a print stylesheet, because the first thing a guest does with a menu is share or print it.
• A dish photograph that morphs from the menu into its own page instead of reloading. Motion is where the Signature tier spends its budget, and it is the part of a proposal nobody can picture until they scroll it.
• A reservation enquiry, not a booking system. It validates on the server behind a honeypot and a rate limiter, then says plainly that no table is held until the restaurant replies. Live availability is a separate piece of work.
